In six instances it was found necessary to carry out
structural alterations to comply with the special provisions of
the Act.
Smoke Nuisances
The energetic action taken in 1900 by the Health
Committee against this form of nuisance has had an excellent
effect, the complaints being now fewer than was formerly the
case.
During the year, sixty-six observations were made, and
fifty-nine intimations and twelve statutory notices were issued.
Proceedings were taken in twenty-two instances, and fines
amounting to £40 58. were inflicted.
