Marriages.
The marriages registered during the year were 1,372, or
67 more than the decennial average. The marriage rate, i.e.,
the number of persons married to 1,000 living was 16 o, which
is slightly higher than the decennial average, but falls somewhat
below the rate in the years 1898-1900. The Battersea marriage
rate steadily increased during the past decennium, but the
increase was not maintained in the last two years.
