HEALTH AND SANITARY CONDITION OE THE
ENTIRE DISTRICT, 1896.
population. The Census taken in April, 1896, showed a
population for the District of 187,264, an increase of
30,333 since the Census of 1891. The population has not,
therefore, increased so rapidly during this five years as it
had been doing during the decade ending 1891. Had that
been so the population in 1896 would have been 193,545.

The population estimated to the middle of the year was 189,675.
