Diseases of the Nervous System.—57 were 19 below
the average, while those from Circulatory Diseases, were 15
above.
The deaths from Diseases of the Lungs were only 89,
and were 36 below the corrected average. That, of course,
was largely a matter of weather, particularly the remarkable
absence of cold east winds in the Spring, a time
when Lung Diseases are generally most prevalent and
fatal. The lessened amount of Influenza also probably
had its effect.
The deaths under the head of Premature Births and
Low Vitality, 50 in number, were nearly the average,
while those from old age were 11 below.
Violence caused 14 deaths; this was 1 below the
average.
Thirty-five Inquests have been held during the year, and the following shows the verdicts:—
