Parish of Clapham.

Ages at Death The proportion of the deaths at the various age groups to the total deaths was as follows :—

Under 5 years42.2 per cent.
From 5 to 65 years38.9 „
Above 65 years18.9 „

This is a considerable increase of the group under 5
years of age and a proportionate diminution of that over
65.
The Infantile death-rate was 1.38. In the previous
four years the figures were 143, 146, 113 and 131. The
rate for the whole of London in 1896 was 161. This is, of
course, the rate of mortality of infants under 1 year of age
per thousand births.

Social position The proportion in the various social grades was as follows :—
