During the year, 58 inquests were held, 7 less than
in 1893. 43 ot these deaths were ot males, and only 15 ot temaies.
All the cases of suicide were males.

General Remarks.
Daring the year the district was comparatively free
from diseases of a zymotic nature. The epidemic of measles already
mentioned, was in this regard the only matter worthy of special
note, but as it is not a notifiable disease, no information could be
got as to the extent of it. The experience of other places where
measles has been included under notifiable diseases, has not been
satisfactory. The only remedy which can be applied is the closure
of the public elementary schools, but unless this be done within the
first few days of the outbreak, little good will result. Agaiu in
