Whooping Cough.
The deaths from this infantile disease amounted to 17, against
47 in 1892, and 35 in 1891.
The deaths included:—
2 children under 1 year
5 children from 1 to 5 years
8 children from 2 to 5 years
1 child aged 7 years
1 child aged 8 years
This disease is not included in the list of Zymotics for compulsory
notification.
Fever.
There were 18 deaths from Fever during the year, the same
number as in 1892; in 1891 there were 16 fatal cases.
The total number of cases reported to the Sanitary Authority
amounted to 146; of these 63 were referred to the High Cross Ward,
36 to St. Ann's Ward, 20 to the Lower Ward, 14 to the Middle Ward,
and 13 to the West Green Ward.
It will be seen that the greatest number of Fever cases occurred
in the High Cross district. There was no special outbreak in any
locality.
The Lower Ward, which was at the head of the list in 1892,
was last year in a much healthier condition.
