Debility.— Twelve cases, chiefly debility after illnesses, especially
Whooping Cough. One showed a little improvement, eleven
showed marked improvement, with an average gain of ½lb. per month
over the whole period. In several of these cases the child suffered
from night terrors, stuttering, etc., which were quickly cured with the
treatment. A typical case is that of a child of 10 months who had had
whooping cough three months before. She was in very poor condition,
thin and flabby, weighing 16 lb. 6oz. (before Whooping Cough
she weighed 15 lb. 13oz.). After three months' treatment she was
very well, firm and active, walking, and had cut four teeth, and
weighed 20 lb. 4oz.
Rickets.— Twenty-two cases. Six did not continue treatment
long enough to be able to assess its value correctly. Two were cases
of healed rickets, in which the condition was improved with treatment.
Fourteen were cases of active rickets of varying severity. These
were all cured in periods varying from 2½ to 10 months. The worst
cases are now sent to the British Red Cross Clinic to be X-rayed, and
the Radiologist's detailed reports are invaluable. An X-ray is taken
at the beginning of treatment. When the case is apparently cured
clinically a second X-ray is taken. If the X-ray shows incomplete
cure a further course of treatment is given and then a third X-ray
taken. In one case at the second X-ray, taken in November, the
Radiologist reports (after technical details) "The changes seen since
the previous films (taken in July) are astonishing. The evidence of
disease has quite disappeared." This child had been fed on Nestle's
from birth, and at 15 months, when treatment began, could not stand.
Ancemia.— Two cases. One a baby of 6 months was cured with
4½ months' treatment. The other, a boy of 3½, was cured in
5½ months, and also cured of night terrors, from which he had
suffered.
Skin Diseases.— Two cases. One, eczema of scalp in girl of 4,
long duration, very little improvement. The other, very bad septic
spots on face in a boy of 4, of 2 months' duration, cured with four
treatments.
Nervous Instability.— Two cases. One girl, too active, no improvement.
One boy, muscular weakness, a little improvement.
Sleeplessness.— Two cases. Great improvement. One child of
three now sleeps in the daytime for an hour, as well as sleeping well
at night, which she never did before.
Cough.— One case, baby of 3 months, with persistent cough,
following Whooping Cough, which he had had at 3 weeks. Cough
practically cured in six weeks, and he gained 2 lbs. weight.
