POPULATION.
There has again been a considerable increase in the population,
and I have decided to estimate the total at 75,000 at the middle
of the year, exclusive of Public Institutions, which alone have a
population of 2,931.
During the year there have been 600 houses erected and certified
as being fit for occupation.
Area 2,500 acres.
No. of persons per acre 30
The levelling of large estates and the building of small suburban
houses still continues.
It is interesting to notice the number of children that are on the
registers of the various Board Schools and National Schools, as this
has an important bearing on the amount of sickness in the District,
especially as regards Zymotic disease:—
