Illegitimate Births (173).—The illegitimate births numbered 173 and
show a decrease of 1 on the return of the year 1934. They were equal to a rate
of 3.8 per cent. of the total registered births.

Notification of Births Act, 1907. —3 ,682 live births were notified (exclusive of 69 stillborn), or 80 per cent. of the total number that were registered during the year.

The deaths registered during the year numbered 3,387 (exclusive of stillbirths),
while the death-rate was equal to 10.99 per 1,000 of the estimated population,
or 0.86 below that of the previous year (11.85), and 1.65 below the mean of
the preceding ten years; whilst the death-rate of England and Wales was 11.7
and the 121 Great Towns 11.8.
