HOUSE REFUSE REMOVAL.
The Superintendent of Cleansing reports that
t
the refuse removed from the City in 1900
consisted of 28,708 cart-loads of street sweepings
and slop, and 44,811 loads of house and trade
refuse ; total, 73,549. Of this bulk, 24,121 loads
were consumed by the Destructor at Letts' Wharf,
an increase of nearly per cent, on the amount
so dealt with last year.
