ACCOMMODATION FOR
INFECTIOUS CASES IN
PRIVATE ESTABLISHMENTS.
Owing to the congested state of the Metropolitan
Asylums Board Hospitals, and the
difficulty in getting contagious cases removed,
on the 5th of November last, I represented to
the Court the general lack of accommodation
provided by large Employers of labour in the
City for the temporary isolation of persons
suffering from infectious diseases pending their
removal to hospital, and suggested that the
attention of merchants, bankers, and heads of
commercial establishments should be directed

increased the risk to the public health. The
Sanitary Committee, thereupon, directed that
the following circular letter and memorandum
should be largely circulated throughout the
City.
