The Statutory Notifications of infectious
diseases numbered 298, not including Measles
or Whooping Cough.
It will be seen by reference to Table B, that
of the 255 persons attacked during 1895, 197
or 77.3 per cent. were removed to Hospital.
Three cases of Erysipelas were so treated, but
deducting these we note that of the remainder,
viz. : Small-pox, Scarlet Fever, Diphtheria,
Typhoid, Continued, and Puerperal Fever, 83.9
per cent. were taken to an isolation hospital.
The figures compare favourably with 1894.
01 Scarlet Fever and Diphtheria, no less than
85.8 and 80.9 per cent. respectively were
removed.
Following these notifications, 222 premises
were disinfected. The difference between the
number of notifications received and the number
of premises disinfected, is accounted for by the
fact that in some instances several cases occurred
in one house, whilst in others notifications were
received in duplicate.
