TYPHUS FEVER.
Only one death was registered from Typhus Fever, and no other
case was known. This was notified as Enteric Fever, but on removal
to the Asylums Board Hospital its true character was recognised. Since
1881 no entry of a death from this disease appears on the records of
the Public Health Department, although I find that in the preceding
decade (1871-80) no fewer than 169 deaths were registered.
I cannot explain this phenomenon—for it certainly is most extraordinary.
-that during thirteen years only one fatal case was known in
such an enormous district.
