BIRTHS.
There were registered during the year 242 births,
viz., 138 Males, and 104 Females—Legitimate, 129 Males,
99 Females; Illegitimate, 9 Males, 5 Females.
The Birth Rate per 1000 of population is therefore
17.9. In 1920 this rate was 22.7. There were 14
Illegitimate Births registered.
The Birth Rate for England and Wales in 1921 was
22.4, and for the 148 Smaller Towns (20,000 to 50,000)
22 7, and for London 22.3.
DEATHS.
The total number of deaths during the year was
107, viz., 64 Males and 43 Females, affording a Death
Rate of 7.9 per 1000 population, as compared with 8.3
in 1920.
The Death Rate for England and Wales in 1921
was 12.1, and for the 148 Smaller Towns 11.3 per 1000
population.
There were 27 deaths which took place outside the
district but were transferable to the district.
The causes of death are set out in the following table:—
