BIRTHS.
The total number of births belonging to the district
was 206: Males, 101; Females, 105. There were 12
illegitimate births. This is a decrease of 48 births
compared with 1916, of 88 compared with 1915, and
134 compared with 1914.
The birth rate works out at 14.7, using the number
supplied to me by the Registrar General for this purpose.
For the year 1917 the birth rate per 1,000 for
England and Wales was 17.8, and for London 17.5.
DEATHS.
Civilian Deaths for the year number 114, affording
a death rate of 9.2 per 1,000. The rate for England
and Wales is 14.4, and for London 15.0.
