The marriages and persons married, and the rates per 1,000
of the population for each Quarter are given in the following table:—
Table III.
Period. | Marriages. | Persons married | Persons married, rate per 1,000 population. | 1891. |
---|---|---|---|---|
Marriages. | ||||
First Quarter | 464 | 928 | 11.43 | 523 |
Second ,, | 736 | 1,472 | 18.13 | 610 |
Third ,, | 831 | 1,662 | 20.47 | 834 |
Fourth ,, | 752 | 1,504 | 18.52 | 774 |
Year | 2,783 | 5,566 | 17.14 | 2,741 |
The marriagc- rate for the year was exactly the same as in the
preceding year.
These rates are higher than any registered during the decade
1881-90, and, therefore, if the marriage-rate be taken as the test of the
commercial prosperity of the district, it must be now in a prosperous
condition. The marriage-rate for the year in London was 17.4 per 1,000,
so that Islington stands nearly on the same level as the rest of the
Metropolis.
BIRTHS.
There were 9,952 births registered in the Parish, being 245
less than those of 1891. Of these, 4,900 were males, and 4,648 females.
The Birth-rate was 29.44 per 1,000 of the population.
The following table gives the births in each district:—
