POOR RATE.
A sum of £113,420 will be required for the Poor Rate for the
ensuing half-year to 30th September next. A Rate of Is. 5d. in the £
will produce £113,050, leaving a deficiency of £370 to be carried forward
at the end of the half-year. The rate for the corresponding period of
last year was also Is. 5d.
No estimate can be obtained from the London County Council of
its requirements for the half-year. The amount actually contributed
by the Vestry to the Council for the corresponding period of last year
has accordingly been taken as the basis of this estimate.
LIGHTING RATE.
The amount estimated as necessary to meet the expenses of Public
Lighting for the ensuing half-year is £6,545 which will require a rate
of Id. in the £. This is the same as that for the corresponding period
of last year.
GENERAL RATE.
A Rate of 11¾d. in the £ will be required to provide for the
expenditure chargeable upon the General Rate. The Rate for the same
period last year was also 11¾d. It will be observed that there is a
decrease in the requirements of the London School Board, but on the
other hand the estimated requirements of the Vestry are slightly in
excess of the actual expenditure of last year. This increase is occasioned
principally by the extra responsibilities cast upon the Vestry by the
Public Health Act of last session, and also by the additional expenditure
under the heading of Loans and Interest, new loans for
various purposes having recently been effected.
