Twelve applications were received from
persons residing in the district to be registered as
Retail Purveyors of Milk.
There are now sixty-two persons registered in accordance with the Milk and Dairies (Amendment) Act, 1922, as follows:—
Wholesale Traders or Producers of Milk | 9 |
Retail Purveyors of Milk residing in the district | 44 |
Retail Purveyors of milk who reside outside the district but retail in the district | 9 |
Total | 62 |
The Dairies, Cowsheds and Milkshops were
visited during the year at irregular periods and
generally found to be kept in a clean and satisfactory
condition, in accordance with the Milk and
Dairies Order, 1926. The occupiers of three cowsheds
were warned regarding breaches of the
Order, and considerable improvements were
effected at each farm.
Fifteen Dealers' Licences to sell "Pasteurised"
Milk, six to sell " Tuberculin Tested " Milk, three
to sell " Tuberculin Tested Pasteurised " and two
Supplementary Licences to sell " Tuberculin
Tested" Milk, were granted under the Milk
(Special Designations) Order, 1936.
FOOD INSPECTION.
Regular visits have been paid to the slaughterhouses
in the district for the purpose of inspecting
the carcases and offal of animals slaughtered for
human food.
