The Factories Act, 1937, came into operation
on the 1st July, 1938. It is a consolidating and
amending measure, completely replacing the
Factory and Workshop Act, 1901, and consolidating
the provisions of sections of at least ten other
statutes.
BAKEHOUSES.
There are 17 Bakehouses in use in the district,
one of which is underground.
They have been visited regularly during the
year, and generally found to be kept in a satisfactory
condition.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES.
There are three slaughterhouses in the district,
all of which are registered.
Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933.
Two licences to act as a slaughterman, subject
to the provisions of the Act, were granted during
the year.
The number of licences in force at the end of
the year was seven.
DAIRIES, COWSHEDS AND MILKSHOPS.
During the year two persons have discontinued
carrying on the trade of Retail Purveyors of Milk,
and one has discontinued carrying on the trade of
wholesale producer, and they have been struck off
the register.
