Nineteen beasts were inspected, 7 cows, 293
calves, 1443 pigs, 803 sheep and 352 lambs, giving
a total of 2917 animals. Of this total 202 animals
were affected with disease in some part, representing
692 per cent. (last year's figure: 1133 per
cent.).
There has been a considerable increase in the
number of animals slaughtered in the district,
necessitating the attendance of inspectors in the late
evenings and at week-ends.
Visits have also been made to the shops,
restaurants, etc., where food is prepared or exposed
for sale.
The following foodstuffs found to be unfit for human food were surrendered by the owners, and subsequently destroyed:—
