Earlsmead School.—Boys' Department.
Room 4b is very dark. The lighting could be improved by painting
the woodwork a light colour and by .replacing the two small windows
by a single large one.
The flooring of classrooms and corridors is uneven and should be
repaired.
A number of desks which had become rough upon the surface
have been planed.
Lavatories.—The teachers lavatory is outside the school building.
An indoor lavatory is desirable.
Girls' Department.
The dados are painted a dark colour throughout the school.
Classrooms.—In Standard 5 classroom an additional window should
be constructed in the west wall in order to improve the lighting of
this room.
The floors throughout the school have been planed and made level.
Neither cloakroom nor sitting room is provided for the teachers
nor is there an inside lavatory.
Infants' Department.
The dados throughout the school are tiled with dark brown tiles,
thus depleting the rooms of a considerable amount of light.
Classrooms.—Class 5 room requires an additional window in its
west wall. Class 4b room is a divided classroom and an additional
window is necessary here also.
The lighting in Class I. room comes from windows on the right
and! at the back of the children and as the room is at present constructed
it is impossible so to arrange the desks as to allow the light
to come from the left of the scholars.
The flooring throughout the school has been planed.
In this department too there is neither common-room, cloak-room
or inside lavatory for the teaching staff.
Crowland Road School.
This school has been redecorated throughout. The exterior of
the buildings has also been repainted.
