There is no teachers' room in this school.
Lavatories.—The washing accommodation is inadequate, there being
but three basins for 350 boys.
Urinal.—The floor of the urinal slopes towards the playground
allowing urine and water to drain on to the playground surface.
W.C.'s.—These are old and the pans are foul. The W.C.'s
should be replaced by a new set.
The lavatories are situated too near the playground gates and
continue to be made use of by the general public.
Girls' Department.
Classrooms.—Dark dados present. A number of old-fashioned
desks are in use also in this department.
No common room, inside lavatory or washing accommodation is
provided for the teachers.
Lavatories.—Owing to their proximity to the school gates these
were formerly made use of to a large extent by the general public.
This has now been obviated by keeping the playground gates locked
during school hours.
Junior Mixed Department.—
Classrooms.—Similar observations as to dark dados and oldfashioned
desks apply here.
Playground.—The playground provided for the use of the girls is
much too small and there is no covered shed.
Infants' Department.
Here again there are dark dados throughout the building.
Classrooms.—In rooms 2, 3, 4 and 7 the windows are too small
and placed too high up to allow of the access of sufficient light to the
rooms. Room 5 is cold and draughty as there is a door leading directly
into the playground.
Cloakrooms.—The additional cloakroom has no heating apparatus.
There is neither a teachers' room nor storeroom at this school.
Urinals.—The floor of the urinals used by the boys slopes towards
the girls' playground allowing urine and water to run on to its
surface and thus creating a nuisance.
