Sewage Disposal Works.
I have on several occasions visited these works and was
much pleased with the results attained. Specimens of the
effluent have been seen by me, and I have been particularly
struck with its clearness and almost complete absence of
odour.
Glanders and Farcy Order, 1907.
Under this Order it is imperative for the Inspector under
the Diseases (Animals) Act, 1804, to notify the Medical
Officer of Health of Sanitary Authorities all outbreaks of
anthrax and glanders. I have the pleasure of recording the
fact that no notifications were received.
Noxious and Offensive Matters.
The Council adopted and the Local Government Board
approved a series of byelaws with respect, to the removal or
carriage through the streets of the district fecal or offensive
or noxious matter or liquid. These byelaws may be the
means of alleviating or assisting in checking the few complaints
made particularly during the summer months.
Sanitary Convenience.
The construction of and the opening of a sanitary convenience
for both sexes situate at the junction of York Street,
London Road and King Street, has supplied a long felt
requirement, and has been the means of preventing the
recurrence of nuisances which were on the increase in the
immediate neighbourhood referred to.
The Clerk to the Council was instructed to prepare, and
he subsequently submitted to the Council a series of byelaws
with respect to the management, regulation and control of the
sanitary convenience, and the same was adopted by the
Council and approved by the Local Government Board.
