The drains belonging to 13 houses were re-laid
by the Council at the request of the owners, on their
agreeing to repay the expense.
In one instance, a combined drain taking the
drainage from a terrace of 8 houses, belonging to
different owners, was relaid by the Council, in
default of compliance with the notices served.
In every case where the Council executed
drainage work, either at the request of the owners or
in default, a charge of 5 per cent. on the cost of
the work was made for preparing plans, specifications,
etc. The total income from this source during
the year amounted to £12 0s. 6d.
Combined drains used for the drainage of 7
blocks of houses, each block belonging to one owner,
have been re-laid at the Council's expense, they
being sewers within the meaning of Section 4 of the
Public Health Act, 1875.
