BIRTHS.
The total number of Births registered in the Borough during
the year was 3,690—of these 1,878 were boys and 1,812 girls.
This is equivalent to a Birth-rate of 27.0 per 1,000 inhabitants.
The average Birth-rate of the 76 Great Towns of England
and Wales during the year was 27.0 per 1,000, that is, the rate in
the Country generally was exactly the same as in East Ham.
The Birth-rate, for the third year in succession, is the lowest
yet recorded in the Borough, although the decrease last year was
not quite so great as during the previous one.
