The mortality corresponds to a death rate of 10.5 per
thousand of population, as against 9.9 last year.
The Death Rate in England and Wales for 1923 was
11.6, as against 12.9 last year.
INFANTILE MORTALITY.
The number of infants who died under one year of age
was 11, as against 14 last year, the Infantile Mortality Rate
being 49 per thousand births, as against 60 last year.
The Infantile Mortality Rate for England and Wales
was 69.
CAUSES OF DEATHS.
The Deaths registered during 1923 included :
1 from Influenza (1)
12 from Tuberculosis (8)
35 from Cancer (27)
24 from Heart Disease (18)
16 from Respiratory Diseases (25)
No Deaths occurred from Measles and Whooping
Cough, and for the second year in succession there were no
deaths from either Scarlet Fever or Diphtheria.
The figures in brackets refer to last year.
