About twenty cesspools have been done away with.
A 12-inch pipe drain has been laid down in Princes-place, Church-street, to the sewer
which falls into the Deptford-road sewer by the Victoria p.h., and drains from the houses Nos.
82 and 83 Church-street, Nos. 1 to 5 Bell-court, and the two gulleys in Princes-place, have
been connected with such pipe drain.
Paving Works.
The following works have been done with new and old stone.
New Granite carriage-way 42 tons.
Old carriage-way relaid 2806 yards.
Granite carriage-way rough dressed 175 ,,
New York paving 18,490 feet super.
Old York paving relaid 11,446 „ „
Old York new faced 300 ,, ,,
New Granite Kerbing 12 by 7 3,214 feet run.
Old Granite Kerbing reset 2,413 „ „

The following materials have been used in the reparation of the roads, footpaths, &c. :—
Guernsey Granite 117 tons.
Common ditto 84 „
Ballast 379 yards.

Street slop carted 846 ,,

Foundry Clinkers 181 „
The pebbles and channel in the centre of Mistear's Buildings have been relaid, the York
paving in the footways reinstated where necessary, the steps at the entrance reformed, and an
additional step provided.
The east footpath Deptford Lower-road, from China Hall-gate to the Plough-road, also
the piece of footpath on the west side of the said road, from China Hall-gate to the Jolly
Calkers p.h., have been respectively kerbed and paved at the cost of £225 14s. 4d.
The owners of property in Chilton-street, having memorialized the Vestry to have the
footpaths of that street made up, kerbed and paved, the Vestry consented to do the work upon
the owners contributing towards the cost thereof as follows, viz.
For all houses that had been built less than five years, two-thirds of the cost of the said
paving, and,
For all houses built five years and upwards, one half of the cost of the said paving the
Vestry contributing the remaining portion of the cost.
