The Surveyor of Pavements made an estimate of the cost of such paving, and a contract
was entered into for the works with Mr. Etheridge, for the sum of £441, winch was apportioned
according to the above-mentioned scale, viz.
Amount to be borne by the owners or occupiers of property in the street £238 14 0
Amount contributed by the Vestry 202 6 0
Total £441 0 0
The works have been carried out and completed, and the whole of the owners (with the
exception of one who became bankrupt) have paid their respective contributions.
It having been determined to lay down Granite Kerb along all the footpaths in the
parish remaining unkerbed, an estimate of the cost thereof was made by the Surveyor of
Pavements, and the Vestry resolved (subject to the approval of the Metropolitan Board of
Works), to borrow a sum of £2,000 for ten years, upon the security of the Paving Rates of
this parish, for the purpose of carrying out the work, and negotiations are now pending for
obtaining such Loan.
The following is a list of the footpaths proposed to be kerbed as before mentioned, viz.,
Deptford-road, East side, from Albion-street to Bedford-place, from Coburg-street to
Commercial-place.
Deptford-road, West side, from Walker-place to the end of Wynford-terrace, round Westfield-terrace
to Crystal Palace Tavern, along Midway-place and Robinson's-place, to boundary
of parish.
Dcptford Old-road both sides, along Crystal-terrace, Sutton-place, Florence-terrace, and
past Maria-terrace, to junction with Rotherhithe New-road.
Rotherhithe New-road both sides as far as Manor-road, with the exception of the length on
the south side between the South Eastern Railway and the Bricklayers' Anns, Branch
Railway.
Manor-road, East side.
Albion-street, South side (the footway to be reformed of a uniform width of seven feet
throughout).
Plough-road both sides.
Lover York-street both sides.
Lighting.
During the past year 6 new lamps have been placed as follows, viz., 1 in Crow-alley,
between King and Queen-streets, 1 Deptford Lower-road at the corner of Bristol-terrace, 1 at
