Gas Light and Coke Company refusing to continue
the supply of gas to the Sewer Gas Destructor Lamp,
erected by the Vestry about 5 years ago (but which is
now removed), in order to consume the foul air of
this sewer.
There has not yet been any arrangement come to
by the Vestry and the West Middlesex Water Company
as to an agreement for the supply of water to
the tanks in question.
The cost of the two tanks complete to the present
time is £93 8s. 8d.
In consequence of the defective condition of the
old drains through the premises of No. 133a, Queen's
Road, notice was served upon the owner to reconstruct
them. The drain was destroyed, and in doing so the
outlet was found connected with an old and defective
portion of a brick sewer, 3-feet high and 2-feet wide,
alongside the front area of the premises, and which
was charged with sower deposit. This was reported
to the Sanitary Committee, and the same referred to
the Works Committee, who instructed me to take
such steps necessary for abolishing the sewer, which
was subsequently found to extend along the forecourts
of the adjoining houses, Nos. 133 to 139, Queen's
Road, and also across the roadway to Porchester Gardens,
and to make proper connections for the drains
