such as brass, zinc and pewter, 10£ tons white sheet
glass, and 24 tons of black glass.
The expenses attending the haulage of the following
materials on the Canal were for ashes and breeze,
£56 5s.; soft core, £239 18s. 3d.; unloading ashesj
&c., at Alperton, £56 5s.; soft core at Southall,
£349 17s. 4d.; the tonnage dues on ashes,
£69 18s. Id.; and soft core, £239 18s. 3d.
SLOPPING.
The sweepings, slop, and snow collected from the
various thoroughfares are brought to the wharves, the
dry sweepings and scrapings being tipped direct into
boats alongside the wharf and slop tank, while the
slop is deposited in the filtering tanks, so that a large
percentage of water may drain away prior to its being
loaded into boats, and conveyed away by canal beyond
Southall, under a contract with Messrs. Studds, at
2s. 6½d. per ton. This Sum includes haulage, tonnage,
unloading, and providing a shoot.
The number of days the men were working during
the year was 309, 7,823 horses, vans, and carts being
employed; 24,133 loads were collected, giving an
average of 78.1 loads per working day, or 3.08 loads

Re-naming Streets and Re-numbering Houses.

The Orders of the London County Council with respect to the re-naming streets and re-numbering houses have been duly carried out by notices served on the respective occupiers of houses in the following localities, viz.:—
