brought in in one week was 910, and the minimum

The expenses paid—collecting, £2,171 13s. 9d.;
loading boats, £371 7s. l½d.; unloading boats at
Southall, £1,932 3s. 2d.; haulage, £848 17s. Od.;
tonnage dues, £939 15s. l1d. Number of boats sent
away, 822, equalling 29,103 tons.
Road Watering.
During the season the water vans were out 135
days; 4,537 horses were employed, giving an average
of 33.6 horses and vans per day; the quantity of
water used, during the season for road watering and
road making purposes being as follows:—
Grand Junction Water Company, 23,408,000, gals.

On the mains of the Grand Junction Water Company
there are 44 standposts, and 13 on the West
Middlesex Water Company, total 57, each post being
fitted with a meter, the indices of which are read
fortnightly during the watering season, from 1st
March to 30th November.
