BOROUGH OF PADDINGTON.
gave instructions to prepare Plans and Specifications
for the construction of a brick sewer on the south
side of roadway, subject to the approval of the London
County Council. This was done, and the approval of
the Council obtained.
The sewer, 500-ft. in length, together with side
entrance, air openings and manhole, has been constructed
by the Vestry's contractor at a cost of £447.
On the 20th December the Vestry apportioned and
charged the moiety of cost of sewer, £223 10s., upon
the respective owners of the twenty-two houses in
accordance with the before-mentioned section of the
Act, and the frontage charges have been paid to the
Accountant of my Department on behalf of the Vestry.
One hundred and forty-four feet of 3-ft. 9-in. by
2-ft. 6-in. one-brick sewer has been constructed by Mr.
W. Seaman, in Bravington Road, from that portion
constructed by him in July of last year, and extending
to near Canterbury Road. This completes the whole
of the sewer in this roadway.
The total length of sewers under the jurisdiction
of the Vestry is 54 miles, 7 furlongs, and 175 yards.
New brick manhole entrances have been constructed
to the sewers in Chichester Mews, Conduit
Mews, and Formosa Street, in order to allow the
Vestry's flushers more ready means of access to them
for cleansing purposes.
