Seventy-eight feet run of 3-ft. by 2-ft. half-brick
sewer, with manhole entrance thereto, has been constructed
at the south end of Lancaster Yard, late
Brook Mews, in consequence of the very bad condition
of the brick sewer there. The portion of the old
sewer extending from Lancaster Street to the new
sewer has been underpinned and greatly improved in
accordance with the scheme of special sewers repairs.
The cost of new sewer was £53 13s. lOd.
Mr. Boatfield, Builder, having given notice to the
Vestry on the 21st June for the erection and drainage
of six houses on the south side of Canterbury Road,
the Vestry made an order that the houses be drained
into a sewer to be constructed by the Vestry from the
head wall of the existing 3-ft. 9-in. by 2-ft. 6-in. sewer
to the western boundary of the Parish; Mr. Boatfield
to pay a moiety of the cost of constructing such
sewer in respect to the frontage of the before-mentioned
houses, under section 52 of the 25th and 26th
Vic., cap. 102.
Messrs. Seaman, Builders, also gave notice for the
erection and drainage of sixteen houses on the same
side of roadway, and an order for draining was made
similar to that on Mr. Boatfield.
A brick sewer on the north side of Canterbury
Road being under the control of the Willesden Local
Authorities, they objected to the before-mentioned
houses draining into same, consequently the Vestry

New Street Refuges.

During the year FourStreet Refuges have been fixed in the undermentioned localities, the cost of the formation, necessary paving works, and guard-posts being as follows, viz.:—
