BOROUGH OF PADDINGTON.
Carting Roadway Materials and General Work.
On this class of work, 2,344 horses and carts have
been engaged 303 days, giving an average of 7*73
per day.
Cleansing the Public Streets.
The principal main roads and all wood paved roads
are swept, daily, other roads two or three times weekly,
or oftencr as occasion requires, and periodically some
of the wood paved roads are washed and cleansed.
Sanding Frosty Roads.
Whenever the surfacc of the roads required sanding,
men, horses, and sanding machines were sent out late
at night and early in the morning. During the
year 436 horses, carts and machines were out on 85
occasions, and 500 cubic yards of Shingle being thus
distributed.
Road Watering.
During the season the water vans were out 110
days, 4,375 horses and vans being employed, giving
an average of 39.79 per day.
