REPORT, 1888-9.
Horses.—The losses by deaths and sales during
the year have been as follows:—
No. 86.—A bay gelding, purchased in 1888, died 15th June
from inflammation of the brain.
No. 48.—A bay gelding, purchased in 1884, died 10th
August, 1888, from sun-stroke.
No. 38.—A black gelding, purchased in 1883; slaughtered
October 11th, 1888; cankered fore-foot.
No. 51.—A red roan gelding, purchased in 1885; slaughtered
October 11th, 1888; very lame in off fore-foot.
No. 58.—A bay gelding, purchased in 1885; slaughtered
December 3rd, 1888; fractured coffin bone.
No. 82.—A grey gelding, purchased in 1888; died February
25th, 1889; hyder thorax, the result of a bad attack
of pleurisy.
At the close of the watering season seven old
horses not worth wintering were weeded out and sold
by public auction at Mr. Ward's Repository, Edgware
Road, realizing an average of £11 Is. 2d.:—
Horse Fodder.—The following Tenders for the
supply of horse fodder were accepted during the year,
the average cost per horse per week for keep and
bedding being 15s. 5d.01:—
