Refuge Lamps. —The position, power, and number
of these lamps will be found in the accompanying
return. [Appendix No. II] One additional lamp
has been erected during the year.
Price of Gas.—The Gas Light and Coke Company's
charge is 2s. 2d. per 1,000 cubic feet for gas supplied
for public lighting purposes.
Defective Services.—During the year 12G notices
were sent to the Gas Company for the rectification of
defective services, which they promptly attended to
and at their own expense.
Damages to Lamp-posts.—During the year nine
lamp-posts were knocked down, 22 columns broken,
19 head-irons and 14 lanterns damaged by various
parties, through accidents or carelessness, the restoration
being made good by the Vestry's workmen in 12
cases at the expense of those causing the damage, and
in 17 cases they escaped detection.

in Appendix No. II.
Dusting.
The number of loads of rough Dust collected has
been 20,200, and 4,5GG horses employed: the daily
average number of loads 67.07, or 4.43 loads per
horse per working day. The following miscellaneous
