Re-naming Streets and Re-numbering Houses.

The following Order of the Metropolitan Board of Works has been carried out, viz.:—

1888. April 20Carlton Terrace.-Sixhouses only renumbered. The numbers of the other houses in Street were correct.

LIGHTING.
This is now the fifteenth year since the Average
Meter System as applied to Public Lighting was
introduced, There are 1,982 lamps, each lamp is
estimated to consume 4.6 cubic feet of gas per hour,
and to be alight for 3,866 hours during the year, or
an average of 10.54 hours per night. The estimated
consumption of gas per lamp per annum is 17,787
cubic feet. There are 98 meters attached to the public
lamps.
