The ratio of births to the entire population of the
Parish was 1 to every 37 inhabitants, or 26.8 per 1,000
persons of all ages.
In St. Mary's Sub-district the ratio of births to the
population was 1 to every 31 persons living, or 31.8
per 1,000.
In St. John's the ratio of births to population was
1 to 60, or 16.8 per 1,000 inhabitants.
Some of the preceding particulars are shown in the subjoined table:—

Deaths.
As already stated, 2,032 deaths were registered in
Paddington. But of these, 233—192 in St. Mary's
Hospital, 38 in the Children's Hospital, and 3 in the
Lock Hospital—were of non-parishioners, and are
therefore not dealt with in this Report.
Deducting these it will be seen that 1,799 parishioners
actually died in Paddington. To this number
(1,799) must be added the deaths within the year of 78
