ELEVENTH ANNUAL REPORT.
To the Vestry of the Parish of Paddington.
Gentlemen,
During the fifty-two weeks of the registration year
ending Saturday, 2nd January, 1886, 2,998 births and
2,032 deaths were registered in Paddington.
Births.
Of the 2,998 births, comprising 1,524 male and
1,474 female children, 2,379 —1,202 males and 1,177
females—were registered in St. Mary's Sub-district,
and 619—322 males and 297 females—in St. John's.
The proportion of the sexes of the children born in
the Parish during the year 1885 was 100 males to 97
females, whereas in the Metropolis it was 100 males to
95 females.
In St. Mary's Sub-district the proportion was 100
males to 98 females, and in St. John's 100 males to 92
females.
The births were most numerous during the second,
and least so in the third quarter of the year.
