with by your Committee, Mr. George Livesey and Mr
Frank Bush attending on behalf of the Company.
In respect of the assessment of the Crystal Palace
Company, this Company was for the last three Quinquennial
Valuations assessed as under:—
Gross and Rateable as estimated
by the Overseers.
Gross and Rateable Value as
determined by the Assessment
Committee.
1875—£800 x £667
£690 x £553
1880—£690 x £553
£720 X £600
1885—£800 x £667
£720 x £600
In the Quinquennial List of this year the Overseers
valued the Land, Gas Main and Pipes in this Parish at £720
gross, £600 rateable. Notice of objection was given by the
Company, and Mr. Ryde, the Surveyor, attended your Committee
in support of the Company, and contended from the
figures and valuation made by him that the assessment of
the Company ought to be reduced to the rateable value of
£106, against Mr. Barker's estimate of £550. Your
Committee, in the hope that a reduction from £600 gross to
£480 gross would be satisfactory and prevent litigation,
reduced the assessment to that amount. The Company
however have given notice of Appeal to the General
Assessment Sessions, and the Appeal is now pending.
