County Council with a view of promoting uniformity in
the Assessment of the Metropolitan properties, such Conference
was held at the County Hall, Spring Gardens, on
May 21st, June 11th and July 4th, 1890, when suggested
rules for securing uniformity in Metropolis Assessments
were agreed upon, and copies forwarded to all the Assessment
Committees of the Metropolis.
Your Committee, in order to ascertain whether the
scale agreed upon was adopted by parishes throughout the
Metropolis, instructed their clerk to obtain from the different
Assessment Committees answers to the following inquiries:
(a) Have you adopted the scale of the Conference
held at the London County Council Offices
for assessing public house properties ? If not,
how have you dealt with such properties ?
(b) Have you adopted the scale for small property,
i.e., weekly or monthly ? If so fully or only
in part, and what ?
Many replies were received to these questions, giving
the practice adopted in various parts of the Metropolis,
forming a basis for your Committee to act upon.

to weekly property to be obtained for their guidance;—
