The cost of the fodder, &c. for the horses in this
department has amounted to £2,940 7s. 6d., being at an
average cost per week, per horse, of 15s. 6d.
The following shews the consumption of the fodder
per week per horse.
Clover Mixture and Hay 2.31 trusses.
Straw (including bedding) 1.72 „
Oats 2.61 bushels.
Beans 0.17 „
Bran 9.11 lbs.
The total expenditure for Slopping, Watering, &c.,
amounts to £14,814 16s. 2d., this includes, besides the
ordinary expenses, the cost of Barging away the Slop,
which in the past year has amounted to the sum of
£1,953 15s. 3d.
The statement of cost of this work for the year may
therefore be taken as follows :
Gross total expenditure under all heads £14,814 16 2
Deduct cost of cartage of materials,
road rolling, and other expenses, other
than slopping and watering 3,321 19 6
Nett cost of watering and slopping £11,492 16 8
Being about £133 per mile.
The quantity of Slop collected was:—
Road Slop 20,703 loads.

Total 23,077 „
