As shewn above, the quantity of dust collected
was 16,165 loads, of which 6,953 loads were profit-

ably disposed of, and realised the sum of £466 12s. 8d.;
the remainder was otherwise disposed of as quickly as
possible, in order to prevent any undue accumulation
of dust at the Depots.
Sale of
Dust.
In a previous Report the Vestry was informed
that "at no distant period additional facilities for the
disposal of the dust would become necessary." Your
Committee now report that it has been found expedient
to make arrangements with barge owners for
the removal of a part of the dust. This arrangement
became necessary in the districts, as if disposed of
otherwise, through their distance from the Dust
Shoots, increased cartage would have resulted

The expenditure of the Dust Department during
the year, which include wages of collectors of the
Dust, drivers, superintendent, shoot clerk, and stable
keeper, also the cost of fodder, veterinary attendances,
incidental expenses, and also the purchase of one
additional horse and two new carts,
