London Brighton & South Coast Railway Company,
which consists of six arches, situate between Lyndhurst
and Victoria Roads, Peckham, and also one arch on
the east side of Victoria Road, afford stabling
accommodation for 70 horses (including loose boxes
for isolating the sick horses), also for the hay, straw
and fodder stores, and further provides accommodation
for carrying out the general repairs to the Plant, the
repainting and repairing carts, water vans, &c., and
for executing the Smiths' work in shoeing the horses
(including those of the Dust Department) repairing
tools, &c., &c.
The quantity of slop removed from the Roads
under charge of the Vestry during the past year
was 32,086 loads. This will in future be considerably
lessened, on the Main Thoroughfares, which are
now being paved with Granite Setts.
The Plant in use by the Vestry for this Department
during the year 1879-80 was as follows:—
