GAS.
The Gas Light and Coke Company have given notice that after
the 31st March, 1887, the price of gas supplied to street lamps will
be reduced from 2s. 8d. to 2s. 5d. per 1000 feet.
MISCELLANEOUS.
The Vestry have lost by death Mr. James Pitt, of Grove Road,
a respected and upright Colleague.
On the School Board for London building the New Schools in
Jacobs Street, an arrangement was made for the Board giving up
to the public a piece of ground at the South End of Newcastle
Street Passage on condition of the Vestry paving it and in future
maintaining it as part of the highway. The arrangement has
been carried into effect, whereby a very narrow passage has been
turned into a good approach.
The Urinal in Austin Street has been reconstructed at the
joint cost of the Vestry of Shoreditoh and the Vestry of this
Parish.
The Old Watch House, in the South "West Corner of the
Church Yard, was reported to be in so bad a state as to raise the
question whether it ought not to be closed, but with a viow of
avoiding the loss by the present poor occupants of their apartments,
it was decided that the roof be examined and made water-tight,
the interior, with the exception of the unoccupied room, cleansed,
whitewashed, and re-papered, and the unoccupied room closed, on
the understanding that no new occupants be hereafter appointed.
The Kyrle Society asked the Vestry to undertake the maintenance
and caretaking of Ion Square Garden under conditions:
(1) "That the public be admitted to the enclosure daily, under
regulations to be approved by the Board, by the Freeholder, and
by the open-space Committee of the Kyrle Society: (2) That the
Freeholder make himself responsible for an annual contribution of
ten pounds to the expense of caretaking: (3) That there is no
general dedication of the land to the public, and that the above
