Twenty-seven women were found to have conditions requiring treatment
and were referred to their general practitioners for further advice. No
abnormalities were detected in 423 women and 20 women received breast
examination only (post hysterectomy etc.)
For technical reasons, 3 women were required to have the smears repeated
and were referred to their local cytology clinics for these to be carried
out.
Age Distribution

Age groups were also analysed and it was found that the greatest number of women attending were between 31 and 45 years of age.

Social Class
The social class of the married women who attended the Mobile Unit
was analysed according to the husband's occupation using the Registrar
General's Classification of Occupations 1966, with results as follows:Socio-Economic

Viiit* to Factories
The qytology screening for women employed at Lesney Products Ltd, which
had commenced in 1971, continued into 1972. As the staffing difficulties
which had been experienced in Hackney Hospital Pathology Department improved
at the beginning of the year it was possible to increase the number of smears
taken weekly and all women wishing to be screened had been seen by 16th
March 1972. The final figures were as shown:-
