NATIONAL ASSISTANCE ACT, 1948,
SECTION 50.
Section 50 of the National Assistance Act, 1948, makes the
local authority responsible for the burial or cremation of persons
who have died or been found dead in their area in all cases where it
appears that no other suitable disposal arrangements have been, or
are being, made.
During the year under review, 92 burials were carried out,
comprising

Stillborn children 22

This is an increase over the number of cases dealt with each year previously under this section since the commencement of the Act in July, 1948, as shown by the following summary:—
