303 N. Sterilised Milk . .10% Deficient in FatVendor pleaded warranty defence. Producer gave explanation of temporary mechanical disorganisation, which was accepted by Public Health Committee. All previous samples have been satisfactory.

The average composition of all formal milk samples taken
during the year was 3.6 per cent. milk fat and 8.80 per cent.
solids not fat. Milk should contain not less than 3 per cent. milk
fat and 8.5 per cent. solids not fat.
Food Complaints.—There has been no diminution in the
number of complaints received of food which has become contaminated
by the presence of foreign bodies, and the following
statement gives details of the offences in this respect which were
dealt with during the past year:—
(1) Potato Crisps containing excreta.
(2) Filaria bicoloris in cod.
(3) Foreign body in loaf of bread.
(4) Fly in tin of Australian baked beans.
(5) Piece of wood in butter.
(6) Nail in buttered bun.
(7) Milk containing glass.
(8) Cigarette end in loaf of bread.
(9) Glass in loaf of bread.
(10) Bread containing grease mark.
(11) Mould in loaf of bread.
(12) Insect in loaf of bread.
(13) Beef containing two lead shots.
