In addition to the visits mentioned above, 32 inspections were
made by the Sanitary Inspectors for the purpose of ascertaining
particulars of the occupation and sanitary condition of the homes
of foster mothers.
SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA.
WATER SUPPLY.
The water supply of the Borough is under the control of the
Metropolitan Water Board.
Complaints of defective water fittings at 258 premises were
forwarded to the Metropolitan Water Board during the year.
SEWERS.
During the year the Sanitary Inspectors reported 4 premises
on which the sewers were defective, and repairable by the Borough
Council. These were referred to the Borough Engineer for his
attention.
Many complaints were received during the Summer months of
1934, as during the previous year, of offensive odours emanating
from the London County Council's sewers in various roads in the
Borough. These complaints were referred to the County Council
in order that they might be dealt with by sealing the sewer ventilators
or other means.
